My friends Chris and Matt are trying to start an online blog Book Club. While I am not quite sure if I have the time to devote to this right now, I will copy them and make a shortlist of some of my favorite books. I would have to go through my library and do a lot of thinking to remember and compose a true “Top 10″, so instead I will just list, in no particular order, some books that come to me and standout, and have had an impact for one reason or another:
The Grand Inquisitor by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Dubliners by James Joyce
The Air-Conditioned Nightmare by Henry Miller
Anti-Memoirs by Andre Malraux
Travels With Charley by John Steinbeck
Pryor Convictions by Richard Pryor
The Winter Journey by Georges Perec
Butterfly Stories by William T. Vollmann
The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner by Alan Silitoe
The Condition of the Working Class in England by Friedrich Engels
The City of Tomorrow by Le Corbusier
There. Read some of these. I am positive that I have left quite a few great books that I have read out of this list. Who really cares?
