I have lived in LA for quite a few years now. I am pretty adept at navigating the streets, at least from the City Of Santa Monica to, maybe, the 101. The whole Glendale CA-2 area throws me into a state of horizontal vertigo and I inevitably end up seeing street signs bearing words that I haven’t heard since the LA Riots. Today’s little excursion took me deep into East LA, and then to a place called Vernon. To make things worse, I was out of cigarettes and overdressed to be in the ghetto so I was scared to get out of my car to buy new cigarettes. The only positive is that Says You was on NPR at the time, so I wasn’t entirely unhappy to be in the car.
