I’ll be dressed like this the entire vacation.

Bags are packed and I am ready for my boat trip. I’ll be gone until the 6th. Cheers, Happy 4th.

That’s a shirt I just made. I was also going to try to make a white t-shirt with an iron burn on the front; and idea I thought was groundbreaking. I called Searcy to ask him if he thought it would work if you left a super hot iron in the same spot for a bit. He said he tried it 5 years ago and it didn’t work. So, not so groundbreaking I guess.

Next. My site is going to be down for a few days soon. Movable Type is killing me. There are so many bugs that I can’t fix. I can’t rebuild my archive template and it makes them jumbled and unreadable. Comment spam is also a huge problem. I wake up every morning with about 400 comments in my inbox which then takes about 45 minutes to sift through them to read my email and then to delete them from my site. And I am paying for MT when by all accounts Wordpress is comparable and possibly better and definitely free. I will be making the switch, probably in a week and a half, post-Lake Mead-vacation and post-Kansas-work trip.

Wordpress users, happy with it?

I will be vacationing on this boat for a few days. The forecast calls for daily temperaturesof 110 degrees. I have been doing double-time at the gym and Shelton’s pool trying to get my body ready for the summer. I think I am substantially hairier than I was at this time last year.

Also. Two days ago (the 22nd) was the 3rd anniversary of Percenterprises/Jason F King Dot Com. Looking back on three years of this, I can say this:

It used to be a lot more fun.

I am getting a couple of new tattoos this month. I am working them out right now. One Phrase. One Image. The image is going on my left bicep, but I am not sure where the phrase is going, other than that it must be on the left side of my body.

I almost got a variation of this tattoo last year, but it looked a little too hammer-and-sickle-y. I have redrawn it and abstracted it from the original drawn/built versions. It’s Corbusier’s Open Hand monument from several essays/sketches and a built monument in Chandigarh.

The phrase is “If You’re Feeling Sinister”. The etymology of the word sinister is interesting and comes from Latin where it meant (loosely) “on the left”. In all of the old Last Judgement paintings (most famously, Michelangelo’s) the sinners would be cast into hell which was always on the left of god. But it has come to mean something a little “cuter” over time, more of a naughty tone, not so much eternal damnation. And of course there is the reference to the band that I really like.

Here are some sketches of the Open Hand that I am trying to work out.

Comments? Suggestions? Advice? Holler at your boy.
