The opening went well. I snapped a few quick photographs of the projects I was exhibiting. The first (large cardboard) project was done with Ricky Hele and Sipan Nazaryan. The Second (plaster bone wall) was done with Loris Nazarians. Thanks to those who were in attendance, I really appreciate it.

If you live in Los Angeles, and would like to see some art/architecture, please join me in my exhibit opening this friday on Hollywood Blvd. (near Wilcox).

The exhibit consists of full-scale structures conceived after studying the organic growth and structure of either coral or bone. I’m up to my ears in cardboard dust and haven’t slept much at all this week. I’m tired.

The image on the above mailer is my previous project I did with LN. It’s a wall built on the idea of bone. We built a form for a medium sized section of wall, that was then filled with balloons blown up to various sizes, then plaster was poured into the form. The result was a pretty interesting wall filled with little void pockets. I’ll talk more about it later after I photograph it properly.

Well, hello.

Last night was the final show of my “see Morrissey three times in a week” week. He played “Girlfriend in a Coma”. The show was great, but now it’s time to shift focus to other things. I need to work on my degree project and I have a couple of new jobs starting this week. Oh, and I have an installation in a show that’s opening October 26th, details to come.

Searcy called this blog trite last night. I suppose he is kind of right, but what does he know? I know it’s not what it used to be, but again, I need to worry about my career a little bit and keep my online presence a little private. I don’t really want a potential client to read my stories about renting porn.

That’s all.

This is Kristeen Young. She has been Morrissey’s opening act for quite some time now. I had never heard her until last Saturday. My first thought upon seeing her on stage was that I liked a plexiglass thing that she was wearing on her neck. I liked a couple of songs, but that night I was so excited to see Morrissey that I really wanted her off the stage (not enought to chant “Morrissey” like some of the rude people there). A couple of songs sounded interesting, but I didn’t pay them much attention. Afterward, I described her to a friend as a 2% Bjork.

So when I saw Morrissey yesterday I liked her a lot better. And I especially liked the plastic pear that she was wearing on her glove. It made me think that I want to make a watch out of plastic fruit. Maybe an apple. Whether or not you like her music, you have to admit that this woman is a great dresser.

Fast forward. Tonight I decided to buy one of her songs from iTunes. Her live show is loud and great, but I couldn’t really imagine what a polished, studio recorded song would sound like.

Wow. I cannot recommend enough for you all to go to iTunes and buy “Kill The Father”. If there was a way to force you to do it, I totally would. I have been listening to it on repeat for the last 30 minutes.

You just have to trust me on this one. Well, me and Morrissey and David Bowie and Frank Black and Tony Visconti.

Morrissey shows a montage of some pretty excellent film clips before his 10-night Hollywood shows; James Dean being fitted for wardrobe in East of Eden, some Alan Bates movie, New York Dolls footage, Bardot video, Vince Taylor, and a couple of others that I can’t remember. I was curious as to how many of these videos I could find on YouTube. I was able to find the following three, if you know of links to any of the others, or the “names” of any that I didn’t mention, let me know in the comments. I would really recommend watching the Vince Taylor clip, it’s pretty incredible.

Incredible video of the uber-charasmatic Vince Taylor. Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust was based on the downfall of Taylor.

Morrissey was even better the second time. The crowd tonight was bigger than Saturday, and much more lively. And they didn’t chant “Morrissey” during poor Kristeen Young’s set. Several people jumped the barrier to shake his hand, and one guy even made his way past the bouncers to get on stage. The setlist was incredible, he played Death of a Disco Dancer. I think it was the best show I have ever seen.

Here are some low res phone pics. I actually like the effects on some of the photos.

Tonight is Show #2 in my “See 3 Morrissey Shows in a Week” week.  I’m going to try to sneak a photo or two this time and post it later.  I love living in a city where Morrissey plays 10 straight shows…

I was gonna write about the Morrissey show that I saw on Saturday, but Heather did it better. The vertical stripes don’t make me look taller when I am sitting. Well, I am going to Morrissey again tonight and on Friday.

Life is full of highlights.

Tmobile finally gave me another phone so I am off of my incommunicado vacation. Because my phone and desktop computer decided to both die the same week, I just had to input all of your numbers manually into Outlook.

Expect calls soon. I may actually call people now because it took so much work getting their numbers into my phone.

Oh yeah, and I’m moving to Barcelona.
