This is Kristeen Young. She has been Morrissey’s opening act for quite some time now. I had never heard her until last Saturday. My first thought upon seeing her on stage was that I liked a plexiglass thing that she was wearing on her neck. I liked a couple of songs, but that night I was so excited to see Morrissey that I really wanted her off the stage (not enought to chant “Morrissey” like some of the rude people there). A couple of songs sounded interesting, but I didn’t pay them much attention. Afterward, I described her to a friend as a 2% Bjork.
So when I saw Morrissey yesterday I liked her a lot better. And I especially liked the plastic pear that she was wearing on her glove. It made me think that I want to make a watch out of plastic fruit. Maybe an apple. Whether or not you like her music, you have to admit that this woman is a great dresser.
Fast forward. Tonight I decided to buy one of her songs from iTunes. Her live show is loud and great, but I couldn’t really imagine what a polished, studio recorded song would sound like.
Wow. I cannot recommend enough for you all to go to iTunes and buy “Kill The Father”. If there was a way to force you to do it, I totally would. I have been listening to it on repeat for the last 30 minutes.
You just have to trust me on this one. Well, me and Morrissey and David Bowie and Frank Black and Tony Visconti.
