I am in an airport bar drinking overpriced pints of beer. Do you know that a Whopper
I slept on a dirty tile floor for 8 days to finish ccells. The following ten days consisted of:
- Writing / designing a 56 page book about the El Segundo Blue Butterfly
- Being offered the opportunity to teach a Rhino class at a local college, and then realizing the large amount of work to design a class that doesn’t exist and get it on the books by February. But I got it done, and now you can call me Professor King, seriously. I insist. If anyone is interested in learning Rhino and lives in the LA vicinity, contact me and I will give you the details. And I hate apples.
- Meeting with a large wheel manufacturer in Sun Valley and getting a job modeling / designing rims for a very large amount of money. I am of course referring to it as the “high paying rimjob”.
- Fixing some tenant improvement drawings for a recording studio in Burbank.
- Modeling 3 residences for a former professor, a job that I have put off for an unforgivable amount of time.
So, it’s been a busy couple of weeks, but I finally feel like my education is paying off. I have one more semester left (not counting graduate school). I am still planning on working at Sagrada Familia in Barcelona for a few months. Then I have plans to fully take over the architecture program at the school I am teaching, therefore beginning the scholastic side of my architectural 10 Year Plan.
And finally. The big news that I had referred to in the previous post is that I have begun setting up my firm with 4 amazing colleagues. We are calling it c.a.s.e… (Collaborative Architecture Studio Et Cetera). The “et cetera” is for our other non-architectural ventures: real estate, graphic design, fashion etc…
I will give you the url as soon as we finish designing the site.
Life is really good.
See you in Texas.
