The writer’s strike is over.  Boo.  My daily commute takes me by every Burbank studio, and with production shut down I have been zipping to school virtually traffic free.  Now, it’s back to the barely moving sea of cars all the way from Burbank to Hollywood.  I have also enjoyed seeing all of the writers carrying their signs around, and honking at them support their cause.  Now I’m honking at them as they cut me off and change lanes without blinkers.

I suppose it will be nice to have new episodes of 30 Rock, The Office, Dexter and Lost but too bad I’ll be stuck in traffic and I haven’t yet jumped into the TiVo age and won’t be able to watch them.  And I suppose that a lot of those writers needed to go back to work to earn money to feed their children.

But really what’s more important, starving children or me saving 20 minutes (per direction!) on my daily commute?

Totally rhetorical question, by the way, don’t feel obligated to answer.

[Aside from all that.  Congratulations to the writers.  I haven't read the extents of the new deal, but I hope they got a fair deal.  And it's great to see people fighting to get what they deserve.  Knowing a few writers around town, I know it was a struggle.]
